Enhance your wind power project. FREE wind data for the Balkan areas.
Which data are available?
The Wind Atlas Balkan is based on meso-scale modelling. It provides wind data showing:
Which years are covered?
The Wind Atlas Balkan provides two data-sets: one covers the years 1979 - 2014 and was based on high-resolution 3km meso-scale modelling.
The other data set covers the years 1961 - 2014 and was based on moderate resolution 6 km meso-scale modelling.
Both models have been driven with different input data. Therefore, the high-resolution and moderate resolution data can be considered as independent. This allows for cross-validation of the data.
How should I use the data?
The data should be used together with a local wind measurement. The Wind Atlas Balkan provides the long-term (30 or 60 years) variation of the wind. Please be aware that banks will require both: wind measurements AND long-term wind data.
Can I trust the data?
Wind assessment require an in-depth validation procedure based on local measurements and long-term wind data. Based on an assessment your wind engineers will validate the data.
Please note: USAGE OF THE DATA IS ON YOUR OWN RISK.
How do I get the data?
Data are provided at no costs. Each time you want download wind data, you have to Order Coupons.
How much do the data cost?
The Wind Atlas Balkan is a project of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and KfW. The data are provided at no costs.
